Finance Minister goes to Luxembourg for Eurogroup and Ecofin meetings

Finance Minister Constantinos Petridis will travel to Luxembourg to participate in the Eurogroup and Ecofin meetings, which will take place on Monday and Tuesday, 4-5 April 2022.

A Finance Ministry statement said that during the Eurogroup, among other things, ministers will discuss the short- and medium-term impact on the eurozone of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, be briefed by the ECB on the digital euro and discuss developments in the eurozone housing market and policy options.

Ministers will also discuss in Ecofin the economic and financial consequences of the sanctions imposed on Russia. They will also discuss the European Commission's proposal to transpose into EU law the global agreement reached at OECD level, whereby large multinational companies will be subject to a minimum tax rate of 15%.

They will then discuss the issue of strengthening the European financial architecture for growth, using the needs created by current geopolitical developments as an example.

Finally, they are expected to issue conclusions on strategic autonomy in the EU. CNA
