Exceptionally the situation in schools is expected to be discussed today in the Education Committee of the Parliament, with cases of coronavirus on the increase and the new "Test to stay" measure causing a lot of reaction from parents and teachers.

Representatives of teachers' organisations and parents have been invited to attend the Education Committee, while representatives of the relevant ministries are expected to give their views on the measures taken in schools, including the "Test to stay".

On "ice" "Test to stay"... Teachers-parents

It is recalled that yesterday the Ministry of Health, after a meeting held in the presence of Michael Hadjipandela, the Minister of Education and the Head of the Scientific Advisory Committee, informed that on next Monday the educational organizations will be informed about the new measure, at a meeting to be held on 15:00.

However, the organisations continue to express strong concerns about the way the new measure will be implemented and insist that it is impossible for it to have positive results.

Speaking to the Cyprus Times on behalf of OELMEK, Themis Polyviou said that it is unfeasible with so many cases to implement the "Test to stay".

"We were pleased with its temporary suspension and we insist that with more than 250 cases in primary and secondary education alone yesterday, it is not feasible to implement it," he said.

Detailed information on this measure is also demanded by the PDOED with Harris Charalambous stressing, speaking to the Cyprus Times, that next Monday they expect clear answers to important questions, insisting that the "Test to stay" is impossible to be implemented without problems.
