The problems of the economy at a time of pandemic and Ukrainian crisis were discussed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives with the OEB

The problems facing the Cypriot economy at a time of pandemic and escalation of the Ukrainian crisis, the President of the House of Representatives, Anita Demetriou, discussed on Monday with representatives of the Federation of Employers and Industrialists (OEB).

According to a statement by the House of Representatives, Mrs. Demetriou said that it is necessary to take measures to strengthen the economy, while stressing the need to address the challenges in relation to the new data created in the Cypriot economy due to the pandemic of COVID-19 and the escalation of the Ukrainian crisis.

The President of the Parliament also assured the representatives of the CBI that, within the framework of its powers, she will take every possible initiative to solve the problems facing the CBI, contributing to the efforts the Federation is making to support the Cypriot economy.

For his part, OEB President Antonis Antoniou briefed the Speaker of the Parliament on the major issues of concern to the federation, including the need to take immediate measures to mitigate the impact on the Cypriot economy of the imposition of sanctions against Russia due to the invasion of its military forces in Ukraine, the continuing increase in fuel prices, and the need to speed up the adoption of the justice reform bills pending before the competent committee.
