Event for the 44 years of Archbishop Chrysostomos II's archpriestly ministry
Forty-four years of archpriestly ministry and service were completed yesterday, February 26 for the Archbishop of Cyprus Chrysostomos B, since on that day the people of Paphos welcomed him as their new pastor, following the election of his predecessor, Chrysostomos I of Constantia and later Pafos, as Archbishop of Cyprus.
An announcement by the Archdiocese of Cyprus said that for this purpose an event in honour of the Archbishop was held yesterday with a priestly assembly at the Great Synod of the Holy Archdiocese of Cyprus, attended by archpriests and clergy of the archdiocesan region, friends and relatives of the Archbishop as well as the Metropolitan of Dodona Mr. Chrysostomos, whom brotherly ties of love and support have united with the Archbishop of Cyprus Mr. Chrysostomos II for decades.
The event featured a short tribute with the chronicle of his election, consecration and enthronement as Metropolitan of Pafos, prepared by the Archbishop's office. The Archbishop provided a meal to all those present. The Metropolitan of Dodona wished him well and stressed the love he has for him because of the many years of friendship between them.
Addressing the priests, the Archbishop expressed his gratitude to God for what he offers to all of them, without whom, he said, we can do nothing. And for this reason, he continued, we clergy must be the right role models and offer love to our people, which is our primary duty.
