In Pakistan we are treated as a recognized state, claimed Ertugruloglu

Foreign Minister in the occupied territories, Tahsin Ertugruloglu, said that Pakistan is the best example that the pseudo-state exists, claiming that "they notice that there they are treated as a recognized state," writes the T/C daily Vatan.

At a press conference at the so-called delegation of the pseudo-state in Islamabad, Ertugrologlu, claiming that they are not following a political recognition of the pseudo-state, reiterated that they are currently defending the fact that there are two sovereign states with equal international status on the island.

Referring to claims that recognition will come from Pakistan and Azerbaijan, Ertugrologlu said the pseudo-state has no request for recognition from Azerbaijan, Pakistan or any other country.

Noting that the recognition issue will come on the agenda after the acceptance of the existence of two sovereign equal states on the island, Ertugrologlu said the best example of the existence of the pseudo-state is Pakistan. There we are treated as a recognized state, he argued.

Reiterating that the international community's policy of "one recognized state on the island" should be ended, Ertugrouloglu reiterated that "there are two sovereign equal states on the island. One is the Greek Cypriot side, which is recognized, the other is the state that is not recognized, us. If there are talks in the future on the basis of these two states, then we will participate. Otherwise there will be no negotiations,"

He said.

Asserting that talks should be held between two equal and sovereign states, Ertugruloglu noted how much longer the United Nations will insist on "wrong definitions."

Recalling that they have been attending meetings of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for years and that decisions on the Cyprus problem have been taken but not implemented by member states, Ertuğruloglu said this is not a criticism but a reality of the situation.
