The Department of Education is following to the letter recommendations of an epidemiological team, says Presidential Advisor C.Scalias Responds to fire against the decisions and calls for unity among all parties involved
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth since the beginning of the pandemic, in relation to public schools, has been carrying out with strict dedication and adequacy all those protocols which the reputable epidemiological team of scientists established by the Cypriot Government recommends, says, in a statement, the Special Adviser to the President of the Republic on education issues, Georgios Skalias.
- Differentiate test-to-stay for high schools as well. Broad meeting next Monday[/B]
- Changes to Test to Stay in Primary Schools. Test centers created for test
- Extraordinary meetings of Lt. Health with educational organizations for "test to stay"
Regarding what has seen the light of day since January 17, 2022, the date on which a wide-ranging meeting on the issue of the pandemic took place at the Ministry of Health, Mr. At the end of the meeting, statements were made by all those who participated in the meeting to the media.
He notes that things are more than clear "and I am absolutely sure that this is how the suffering Cypriot society perceives them."
In other words, Mr. Skalias continues, the Ministry of Public Health follows to the letter what the reputable group of scientists who make up the epidemiological team recommends.
"In turn, it tries to implement them in the best possible way, through unremitting, tireless and tremendous efforts, exhausting, I would say, even margins beyond even this feasibility. In no case and at no time since the beginning of the pandemic in the country has the Ministry of Health taken initiatives on its own to introduce health measures against the pandemic in schools, which were products of its own thinking, inspiration and above all, and I emphasize this in an absolutely ecclesiastical way, "he adds.
Mr. Scalia, urges if anyone possesses evidence to the contrary, to immediately make it public in its entirety and in detail.
"On the issue of replacements, it would be good for those who complain about the failure to find replacements in time to finally listen, if they want and if they wish, to the repeated clear statements of Panagiotis Antoniou, Chairman of the Education Service Committee, about the enormous difficulty faced by the EEY, in terms of filling vacancies in our educational units, which have arisen, are arising and will arise daily, especially, of course, the pandemic. There is a refusal, stressed many times, by the President of the EHRC from replacement candidates to accept the replacement position offered to them," he added.
Scalias again makes a strong appeal to the leaders of all educational organizations to publicly position themselves in a written statement to the media "to the invited colleagues who are invited by the EYF for replacement, to accept it immediately, emphasizing the critical moments that our country's Education is going through with direct negative effects on the educational level of our children".
"I am absolutely certain that the weight and prestige of the leadership of educational organisations and the influence they exert on their members cannot be ignored. It would be out of place and grossly unfair to our teachers for anyone to question the self-denial and dedication with which they perform their multiple duties which have multiplied with the pandemic. Society owes them much, the state owes them much. Let us join forces! The rivalries at the moment do not help neither our country nor our work and those who do injustice are our children alone", he concludes.
