[Cyprus Times] El Salvador: 4.1 tons of cocaine seized during Pacific Ocean operation

This is the "largest drug seizure" ever made as part of the government's effort to fight crime and drug trafficking

Authorities in Salvador seized 4.1 tons of cocaine during an operation in the Pacific Ocean and detained five Colombian citizens and two Ecuadorians who were transporting the drugs in two makeshift submarines, President Naguib Boukele announced.

The navy seized "4.1 tons of cocaine, worth approximately $103,900,000" U.S. dollars, the head of state said via Twitter.

According to the president, this is the "largest drug seizure" made as part of his administration's effort to fight crime and drug trafficking.

On November 20, Salvadoran authorities announced the seizure of 2.5 tons of cocaine worth $62.5 million during an operation in the Pacific Ocean and the arrest of four Ecuadorian citizens, three Mexican citizens and two Colombian citizens.
