Leisure centre owners worried about possible measures in catering - Industry devastated by possible measures over the holidays, Leventis tells Cyprus Times What they suggest for clusters of outbreaks that occurred in specific venues
Headaches were caused by the 1925 cases of coronavirus announced by the Health Ministry on Monday with the Cyprus Association of Leisure Centre Owners making it clear, speaking to the Cyprus[/b][/b] Times[/b] that any thoughts of closing down the catering industry would be disastrous.
Speaking to the Cyprus[/b] Times[/b], Fanos Leventis, when asked to comment on possible measures affecting leisure venues, explained that any measures should be targeted and not measures that would affect the whole industry.
"If there have been outbreaks and chains in certain places, they should see the problem where it occurs and not come in and close down the whole restaurant and impose measures for everyone during the holidays. Under no circumstances can we cancel our reservations. This will be disastrous for the businessmen who made their plans and preparations on the basis of the existing measures," he said."
However, reports want certain leisure venues to experience a spate of outbreaks, while experts are considering a reduction in gatherings at entertainment venues and even a reduction in their opening hours.
At the same time, Leventis, when asked about possible measures after the holidays, stressed that any measures and decisions should be made after a meeting with the competent ministry, so that the suggestions of the owners of leisure centres can be given.
"We see that despite the many cases the hospitalizations are reduced, and only the thoughts that they are thinking about new measures cause us concern and certainly the industry can not bear more restrictions as the damage is already huge."
Finally, Leventis suggested that stricter controls should be made to ensure that the measures are respected and not to make all businessmen pay.
