It took place today, Thursday, December 23, 2021, at the Headquarters of the Fire Department, the delivery of fire masks in the presence of the Minister of Justice and Public Order, Mrs. Stephie Drakos, the American Ambassador to Cyprus and the Chief Fire Marshal of the Fire Department, following an initiative of the American Embassy.
In her speech, the Minister of Justice expressed her sincere thanks to the American Ambassador for this important initiative as well as for her continued support.
As Ms. Drakou stated, "The gesture represents the strong bond between our communities and our shared commitment to common values and beliefs." She also reiterated the Government's commitment to closer cooperation in areas of common interest.
For his part, the Fire Brigadier General thanked the Embassy and highlighted the cooperation between Cyprus and America, noting: "The long-standing cooperation between the Cyprus Fire Service and the United States goes back many years. The long history between the Fire Department and the United States of America goes back a long way, on debris rescues after earthquakes or other massive disasters."
He also pointed out that by delivering these portable breathing masks, the United States is making a significant contribution to the safety of our firefighters and, at the same time, to the safety of the Cypriot public in general.
