[Cyprus Times] Director of the President's Press Office mourns death of Pambos Vassilas

The Director of the Press Office of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Andreas Joseph, mourns the death of journalist Pambos Vassilas and sends his sincere condolences to his family and the family of the Liberal.

In a written statement, Mr. Joseph said that Pambos Vassilas worked hard, with professional conscientiousness, contributing with his writings to the public debate.

"He pursued the truth, putting above all the man and the problems of his daily life. He was a journalist - a fighter. He won the sympathy and appreciation of everyone because he was genuine and authentic", says Mr. Iosif.

He adds that Pambos Vassilas, through his reports, brought to light human stories, such as the case of the youngest hero of the liberation struggle of EOKA 1955-59 Dimitrakis Dimitriadis, who was murdered in Larnaca on March 18, 1956 by a British soldier.

"Recently, on his own initiative and his own actions towards the Government, an effort was undertaken and finally the identification of the remains of the youngest hero of EOKA was achieved. We express our sincere condolences to the family, his relatives and the family of Phileleftheros," Mr. Joseph concludes his statement.
