Leon asks for the two reports of Malena and Iris to be reviewed

About the case of the three children of the Daskalakis family in Patras, forensic pathologist Gregory Leon spoke to protothema.gr.

Mr. Leon asks that both reports of Malena and Iris be reviewed and that suffocation as a cause of death be included in the frame of the investigations.

"According to the copies of the forensic reports, as published, the following findings are considered of utmost importance:

The child who died first was found to have cyanosis of the lips, abrasions in the nasal cavity, severe pulmonary edema, severe pulmonary congestion and extensive cenotopic degeneration of the liver cells.

The child who died second appears to have had cyanosis of the lips, periorbital skin lesions, severe pulmonary edema, severe pulmonary congestion and lesions secondary to anoxia in the brain.

It is emphasised that the petechial haemorrhages commonly seen in asphyxial deaths are not a necessary finding, as they are found less frequently in children and even less frequently when cardiopulmonary resuscitation has been performed.

The above data I am sure will be re-evaluated by colleagues so that in the context of differential diagnosis not to exclude causes of death that could lead to the full clarification of this case, "says prototothema.gr the coroner Grigoris Leon.

At the same time, there has been talk about the video messages of the mother with the problems of Georgina, with information indicating that there is a large time deviation from the time the incident started, compared to the time when the recording started. Finally, the mother had claimed in a recent interview that her hospitalization at the neurology clinic was for an ischemic attack, which is contradicted by the evidence in the doctors' possession. According to these, she had reported to the doctors that she had some dysarthria problems, with the final opinion referring to a simple headache. Also, the information from the medical history indicates at least 20 hospital visits - hospitalizations for various issues with the tests being negative.
