Statements by the Deputy Minister of Shipping on the "One Ocean" Summit

Cyprus, as a global shipping power, with a leading presence in both the international and European arena, will present the Cyprus Government's initiative for a regional action plan to tackle climate change, Deputy Minister of Shipping Mr. In his statements to the media from Brest, France, where he is accompanying the President of the Republic, Mr. Vassilis Demetriades. Mr Demetriades said that "the heart of the blue economy and the sustainable development of the oceans and seas is beating in Brest from today."

President Anastasiades, he added, responding to President Macron's invitation, is here to contribute as Cyprus to the global effort to protect the seas and oceans.

"Cyprus, as a global maritime power with a leading presence in both the international and European arena, is expected to present its views as well as the recent initiative of the Cyprus Government for a regional action plan to address climate change,[/B] and the efforts we are expected to undertake in the coming period to contribute to a positive agenda for greener shipping both at the level of the International Maritime Organisation and the European Union".
