The pan-European Sustainable Development Goals Report is once again disappointing for Cyprus, says AKEL.

As the party's Press Spokesman George Koukoumas says in a statement, Cyprus did not fulfil even one of the 17 key Sustainable Development Goals and unfortunately, Cyprus is ranked 32nd out of 34 countries on the European continent in the report that records indicators for the quality of life and social development of states.

"Indicators for decent work, education and health. The reduction of inequalities and poverty. Clean energy and environmental policies. Gender equality. Institutions and the extent of corruption. This is where our country has been failing in recent years, according to the Report."

"This is the reality of what is of substance and importance for society and its needs, for development that serves our country. And it is precisely this reality that underlines how necessary it is for Cyprus and its people to change course. A change of priorities, a change of policies. Our country and our people deserve better."

He concludes.
