The Cyprus problem and Turkey's aggressive rhetoric at the Mitsotakis-Kassoulides meeting What the Foreign Minister discussed with the Greek Prime Minister
The Cyprus problem, Turkey's rhetoric, as well as the trilateral cooperation between Greece and Cyprus with countries of the region, were the focus of a meeting between Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Cyprus' Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides, who is making his first official visit to Athens since taking office.
Welcoming Mr Kasoulides, Mitsotakis congratulated him on taking office "for the third time, after two previous, long and, by all accounts, successful terms of office", as he said.
During the meeting, Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Ioannis Kasoulides exchanged views on European and international issues of common interest, as well as on regional developments, culminating in Turkey's aggressive rhetoric.
They also discussed trilateral and multilateral cooperation with emphasis on cooperation with Egypt and Israel, as well as the 3+1 format between Greece, Cyprus, Israel and the United States.
The Greek Prime Minister reiterated that the common goal of Greece and Cyprus remains the finding of a comprehensive, agreed and workable solution to the Cyprus problem, on the basis of a bizonal bicommunal federation, in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.
Mitsotakis assured Ioannis Kasoulides that Greece will continue to support Cyprus' efforts to revoke all illegal Turkish actions and cancel the Turkish attempt to impose new defaults, primarily in Varosha.
