Cyprus issue, bilateral relations, energy at the centre of Kasoulides-Blinken talks in Washington
The Cyprus issue and the creation of conditions that will contribute to the resumption of negotiations, bilateral relations between Cyprus and the US, energy issues, multilateral cooperation mechanisms, and other regional and international issues of common interest, will be the focus of the talks that Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides will have today, Tuesday, in Washington with his US counterpart Anthony Blinken.
Mr Kasoulides is on a working visit to the US, following an invitation from Mr Blinken, with whom he will meet at noon local time on Tuesday at the State Department.
In a statement, the Cypriot Foreign Ministry said that the two Ministers' discussions are expected to focus, inter alia, on bilateral relations and the prospect of further deepening them in a wide range of areas, the Cyprus problem and the creation of conditions conducive to the resumption of negotiations, energy issues, multilateral cooperation mechanisms with emphasis on the 3+1 format, as well as other regional and international issues of common interest.
In the afternoon of the same day, the Foreign Minister will be received by the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, followed by a meeting with the Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Victoria Nuland. On Tuesday evening, Mr. Kasoulides will attend a dinner hosted in his honor by representatives of expatriate organizations.
