The OSAK expresses its strong concern and concern in relation to the OKYPY "In the same play spectators" notes What it says in a statement
The OSAK expresses its strong concern and concern, The Federation of Cyprus Patients' Associations (OSAK) expresses, in a statement, its concern and concern in relation to the continuing instability observed in the administration of the OKYPY (Organisation of State Health Services).
"OCYPY once again and in the midst of a pandemic remains headless both in the central administration and in the Larnaca-Amohostou and Nicosia regions," it adds.
He also states that public hospitals are in a very difficult position, having to deal with the pandemic which is on the rise, and at the same time suffering from multiple problems related to issues of administration, organisation and modernisation.
"Public hospitals are the backbone of the YESY and should be protected at all costs. Once again, patients are spectators in the same play. In a situation that cannot and must not be allowed to continue," it adds.
The OSAK publicly expresses its deep concern as once again its predictions and fears have been confirmed, as it says in its statement.
"This is not the first time that the negative and problematic situations prevailing in the administration of the Agency which do not allow it to effectively implement the legislation on the autonomy of public hospitals have been mentioned," it says.
"Organised patients have been calling for months now for the Government to act immediately to take drastic measures before the situation gets completely out of hand with no chance of success for the autonomy of public hospitals with their future in total doubt," it adds.
OSAK once again calls on the state to take all necessary measures that will ensure their smooth operation.
"Specifically, the immediate restructuring and strengthening of the Board of Directors of OKYPY with people who have experience in the sector and in large health organizations is required," it notes.
He considers as "equally important" the immediate promotion of the bill that provides for the inclusion of the OSAK in the Board of Directors of the OCYPY, along the lines of the OAI with voting rights.
"At the same time, the reorganisation of the directorates of the organisation is expected, their proper staffing, as well as the scientific committees with the participation of representatives of organised patients," he adds.
As he says, what is required and perhaps the last opportunity is the promotion of decisions that will ensure the successful autonomy of public hospitals, which will have positive effects on the implementation of the GESY and at the same time on the quality of health services provided in our country.
The OSAK warns, finally, that repetition of the practices and mistakes of the past or inaction in making decisions for corrective changes will burden the Government with heavy responsibilities for the course of modernization and autonomy of public hospitals.
