The chronicle of the violent outbursts and allegations against the famous rapper who couldn't handle his bad self

It was January 30, 2009 and the heart of Los Angeles was beating to the beat of the Grammy Awards that were to be awarded the next day in the presence of the cream of the international music industry. At a glamorous party hosted that night by legendary music producer Clive Davis, all eyes were captured by one of the hottest couples of the day, the gorgeous, then 22-year-old singer Rihanna and her rapper partner Chris Brown.

A few hours later, shocking photos of the singer's disfigured face from the savage beating she suffered at the hands of her lover would make the rounds and go down in history as one of the darkest pages in the history of international showbiz.

Today, 13 long years later, and after many incidents of violence on his part in between, Chris Brown is once again coming into the public eye, accused of raping a woman on New Year's Eve. The woman is a professional dancer, choreographer and model who alleged that after he drugged her by slipping a substance into her drink, he forced her to have sexual intercourse with him on his yacht moored at the rapper's luxury beachfront property in Miami. According to the complaint, the next day he even forced her to take a contraceptive pill to immediately terminate any pregnancy.

This new incident of violence on the part of Chris Brown confirms, for the umpteenth time, his dangerous character and all those "darknesses" of his mind because of which he destroys not only his victims, but also himself and, of course, his career. A career that was destined to be brilliant in the mid-2000's with him winning the heavy title of one of the most influential R&B artists of all time and many even using him as Michael Jackson's successor!

Unfortunately, however, this immense talent was destined to self-destruct due to his passions, weaknesses and character that drive him, time and time again, to violent behaviors that often border on the criminal. No matter that each time he appears regretful of his actions, the downward spiral on which he has been walking for years seems endless with a terrifying finale.

Chris Brown's great love affair with the then fast-rising singer Rihanna was destined to turn into a tragedy. That night on the eve of the Grammys when he brutally beat his young companion in his ultra-luxury Lamborghini will forever haunt the lives of both of them. Even his most fanatical fans would be devastated by him a few 24 hours later upon seeing the photos of the girl he supposedly loved, swollen and bruised from his punches.

Years later, in 2018, he spoke about that fateful night in a documentary called "Chris Brown: Welcome to my Life." The cause of the fight was, as he confessed, a woman with whom he had been romantically involved in the past and who appeared in front of them at the Grammy party where they were at: "A friend of mine, with whom I once had sex, came up to me and said hello. Rihanna's face changed and she started telling me that it was uncomfortable for her when my ex-girlfriends approached me. After the party we got into my car and Rihanna threw a real tantrum about my girlfriend. And it was at that moment that a text message came from the ex-girlfriend. Rihanna went crazy. She grabbed my phone and threw it out the window and then started throwing her fists at me. Rihanna called me names in every possible way, and in such words that I can't reproduce it. I don't remember how long I lasted, but when I got tired of it, I hit her on the lip with my fist. Rihanna was bleeding. She stopped for a second and then spat in my face. Then I hit her again and then I got out of the car to look for the phone," he describes and adds: "Every time I look at these horrible photos, in which my beloved is disfigured and bloodied, everything inside me is turned upside down. I can't forgive myself for what I have done. Self loathing is what I always feel when I see these photos."

The chronicle of his violent outbursts

His remorse, however, is not, nor his conviction, nor even Rihanna's reckless decision to give their relationship another chance, were not enough to bring the popular rapper to his senses. For more than a decade, almost every year, we are informed of a new incident of violence in which he has played a leading role.

In the summer of 2012, during a fight with the also famous rapper Drake in a New York club, the glass bottle he hurled hit a young Australian tourist in the head and she had to undergo 16 stitches!

In 2013 a man reported him for assault after an argument and in August 2016 he was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a woman with a gun and released on 250 bail.000 dollars.

In 2017 his then partner Karrueche Tran asked for and succeeded in getting a five-year restraining order against him so that he could not approach her as he had previously used violence against her and threatened her.

The new rape charge is the second in a row against him. It was preceded in 2019 by his arrest in Paris, when a 24-year-old woman reported to French police that he and two friends had raped her in a hotel suite. More recently, just last June, another woman accused him of violent behaviour.

The dreamy, talented boy who sang in his neighbourhood church choir, admiring Michael Jackson on TV, was himself confronted with the cruel face of violence from a very early age. Back when his mother's partner bullied him to keep his mouth shut when he witnessed his violent outbursts against her. It is possible that these traumatic experiences also led him down the dark paths of violence. It is also certain, however, that someone needs to take his case seriously and get him under control before it is too late for someone innocent.
