Andreas Papadopoulos is the new President of the Cyprus Shipbrokers' Association

The Statutory Annual General Meeting of the Members of the Cyprus Shipbrokers Association (CMA) has been held, during which Andreas Papadopoulos has been elected as the new President of the Association.

According to the Association's announcement, the outgoing President of the Cyprus Shipbrokers' Association, Panagiotis Christodoulou, on behalf of the Board of Directors, presented and analyzed before the Assembly the Annual Report of the Council on the activities of the current year.

Special reference was made to the results of the privatization of the Port of Limassol and the expected privatization of the Port of Larnaca from 1.4.2022, the existing port and operational problems affecting the operation of ships, the high existing tariffs and the need to reduce them, the dockers', energy and transit trade sectors.

The President also made reference to the new industrial port of Vasilikos under study, the construction of a liquefied natural gas pipeline in Vasilikos, the Association's cooperation with the Customs Department and the Ports Authority, as well as to the whole general range of the Association's activities concerning or related to the services of its Members.

Mr. Christodoulou presented the Association's recommendations for addressing port and other related problems.

The decisions of the Assembly will be submitted to the relevant Ministries and other governmental bodies helping the state to take immediate and appropriate measures to strengthen the port and shipping industry of the country.

According to the Association's announcement, elections were held where a new Board of Directors has been elected for the next two years.



Andreas Papadopoulos has been elected as the new President of the Association, who will lead the Association by making every effort together with the new Board and Management, in full cooperation with all stakeholders (Government, Parliament, Guilds and other bodies) in order to achieve the development of the ports and improve their competitiveness.
