A case of illegal possession of drugs and possession of burglary tools is being investigated by the Paphos Police with the arrest of a 29-year-old man to facilitate interrogations.

According to Paphos Assistant Police Director Michael Ioannou, an off-duty police officer arrested a 29-year-old man who was allegedly preparing for burglary.

The officerobserved that the young man was loitering in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the Kato Pervolia area and working on warehouse locks that were at the scene.

After approaching him he found that he was in possession of a battery operated crank. The off-duty officer, after approaching him and revealing his badge, asked him to disclose the purpose of his presence at the location and the lawfulness of his possession of the item in his possession. The 29-year-old did not give any explanations as to the lawfulness of his possession of the trapanaki, nor any explanations for his presence at the place.

After the arrest of the 29-year-old , it is alleged that a quantity of the chemical drug was found in the young man's possession.

Investigations into the case are continuing by the Paphos Police Directorate.
