[Cyprus Times] A supermarket in Athienou collects clothes and toys to support families

Clothes and toys that will be given to children and families in need for Christmas are being collected by a supermarket in Athienou.

An announcement by the Municipality of Athienou states that the MAS (Christos Hatzigiannakou Ltd) supermarket in Athienou is collecting until December 22, clothes and toys of good quality, which will be delivered to the Municipality to be distributed to children and families in need. It informs that these families have been approved by the Council of the Social Welfare Committee at a recent meeting.

It adds that "part of the items collected will also be given to the directorates of the Athienou schools, which, in collaboration with the Parents' Associations, will distribute them to children of needy families and, in general, to children in the Municipality in need".

In addition, it is noted that from the gifts collected from the initiative of the Municipality entitled "Tree of Wishes", it will be arranged that all the children of Athienou will receive a toy and clothes for the Christmas holidays.

It is noted that "the supermarket also handed over to the Mayor of Athienou, Kyriakos Kareklas, food shopping vouchers totalling 400 euros, to be distributed, through the Social Welfare Committee, to families in need."
