Clarifications by the Greek Ministry of Labour
The Greek Ministry of Labour states in a statement that a positive rapid test is sufficient for an employee to be considered justifiably absent from work.
Ministry of Labour's announcement on rapid test
Regarding the possibility for employees to be considered excusably absent from work if they test positive for Covid-19, we note the following:
- As announced by the government, in order for an employee to be considered excusably absent from work in case of covid-19 infection, only a rapid test is required.
- If the employee wants to take sick leave and receive the relevant benefit from the EFKA in this case AND ONLY - as required by the legislation in force - a medical certificate is required, as is the case for all illnesses.
