77 deaths and 6,424 new cases of coronavirus announced in Greece today - EODY's announcement
77 new deaths from coronavirus were recorded in Greece in the last 24 hours.
At the same time, in 6.424 new cases today, Tuesday, December 21, according to the epidemiological report of the National Public Health Organization
According to the EODY announcement:
The data presented refer to cases from the epidemiological surveillance of the disease by the new coronavirus (COVID-19), based on data reported to EODY and recorded until December 21, 2021 (15:00).
The new laboratory-confirmed cases of the disease recorded in the last 24 hours are 6,424, of which 4 were identified following checks at the country's entry gates. The total number of cases is 1,044,301 (daily change +0.6%), of which 50.5% are males.
Based on the confirmed cases in the last 7 days, 211 are considered to be associated with travel from abroad and 2.905 are associated with an already known case.
New deaths of patients with COVID-19 are 77, with a total of 20,055 deaths recorded since the start of the outbreak.
95.2% had underlying disease and/or age 70 years or older.


The number of hospitalized intubated patients is 661 (62.3% male). Their median age is 63 years. 79.7% have an underlying disease and/or age 70 years or older. Among intubated patients, 545 (82.45%) are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 116 (17.55%) are fully vaccinated. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 3,679 patients have been discharged from ICUs.
New Covid-19 patient admissions to hospitals in the territory are 295 (daily change +14.34%). The seven-day average admission is 331 patients.The median age of cases is 38 years (range 0.2 to 106 years), and the median age of deaths is 78 years (range 0.2 to 106 years).
Samples tested: As of January 1, 2020 to date, a total of 7,918,575 clinical specimens have been tested at laboratories performing testing for novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) that systematically report the total number of specimens they test, while 35,680,614 specimens have been tested by Health Units and HHS Clinics performing Rapid Ag testing.
The seven-day average is 331,528 specimens tested.
Self-tests: as of December 20, 2021, 65,191,975 self-test result statements have been electronically recorded, and 3,702,876 individuals have presented for retesting.
Mass Rapid Ag Sampling: As of December 20, 2021, 158 sample testing actions were conducted by the Mobile Health Teams (MHSTs) of the MHST, in which 26,932 Rapid Ag tests were performed and 802 positives (2.98%) were detected.
