[B-2]50% cancellations in wedding events and baptisms, according to the PA.SY.EP.EK "Bell" from event professionals ask for support from the government[B-3]
[B-4]The cancellations of events, weddings and baptisms for the coming weeks continue and so far 50% of events have been cancelled with the Pancyprian Association of Event Professionals asking for financial support from the government.[B-5][B-6]In a statement to the Cyprus News Agency, Constantinos Mosaikos, president of the Pancyprian Association of Event Professionals (PA.SY.EP.EP.EC) said that their request for a 30-day extension period, before the activation of the last decree, decided by the Ministry of Health and after the negative response of the Minister of Health, [B-7]the cancellations of events, weddings and christenings for the next few weeks continue.[B-8]So far, he said, 50% of the events have been cancelled.[B-9][B-10]Mosaikos explained that the number of unvaccinated persons at each event is not large, but, he said, it happens that the persons who are unvaccinated at each event are important persons who could not be absent from such an event. As a result, he continued, couples are forced to cancel their scheduled events. Many more, are those who will try to go ahead with the sacrament, but will not conduct the event at the reception venues.[B-11][B-12][B-13]For us, it is still a big blow and a blow[B-14], he added. Mosaikos, after noting their industry is the first to close in this pandemic and the last to open.B-15][B-16]Despite this, the president of the Pancyprian Association of Event Professionals (PA.SY.EP.EK) said that the Association fully understands the Ministry of Health for the measures it is taking to protect the health of the public. We are not at all against the measures taken by the Ministry concerned, [B-17]we just asked, he added, for some grace period[B-18], which would accommodate events that are already in their final stages.[B-19][B-20]We understand that the Ministry of Health's measures are an incentive for the unvaccinated to get vaccinated on the other hand,[B-21] but those concerned need to know what to do with their event and not to comply today with the measure[B-22] that was decided yesterday and that there are scheduled events over the weekend, he added.[B-23][B-24]He also pointed out that the peculiarity of this Association is that its members are all event professionals, photographers, DJs, banquet hall owners, catering companies, noting that this [B-25]sector has a huge turnover in Cyprus that significantly supports the economy of Cyprus.[B-26][B-27][B-26][B-27]

[B-28]The cancellations, he said, continue as couples are in uncertainty and do not know whether this measure will be extended beyond 31.1.22.[B-29][B-30]It was noted that from yesterday until 31 January 2022, people who have received at least one dose of the vaccine will also be allowed to enter social events, such as weddings, christenings and catering areas within hotels, provided they have a negative PCR laboratory test result or rapid antigen detection rapid test. The Minister clarified that the previous decision of the Council of Ministers also applies to the following places: indoor and outdoor stadiums, theatres, cinemas, theatres, theatres, music and dance halls, entertainment centres and catering establishments.[B-31]
