A 47-year-old woman is expected to appear before the Famagusta District Court this morning,[/B] who was arrested last evening when she was spotted by members of the police driving a car at a speed of 155 kilometres on a road in Famagusta province, where the speed limit is 50 kilometres per hour.

The 47-year-old woman was driving her car on a road in the Deryneia area at around 9.50 on Tuesday night and was stopped by members of the Famagusta traffic police, who were conducting a traffic control in the area.

After the police members proceeded to arrest the 47-year-old woman for the offence of driving a vehicle at excessive speed,[/B] they drove her and her vehicle to the local Deryneia Police Station for further examinations, while she was then taken into custody.

On Wednesday morning, police are expected to proceed to register the case for immediate hearing by the Famagusta District Court.
