Police made a new arrest yesterday in connection with the large quantity of drugs seized on February 21, 2022, in Nicosia. This is a 25-year-old Nicosia resident, whose arrest brings the number of arrests in this case to three.

Testimony against the 25-year-old woman was secured during the investigation of the case. Based on the testimony, a warrant for her arrest was issued against her under which she was arrested yesterday afternoon. She was taken into custody and is expected to be brought before the Court today for a detention order.
The investigation of the case began on February 21, 2022, when during a search by customs officials of a vehicle at the Agios Dometios roadblock, a large quantity of drugs was found. Specifically, they were identified and seized:
-quantity of amphetamine, weighing 8 kilograms and 513 grams
-quantity of cocaine, weighing one kilogram and 546 grams
-quantity of heroin, weighing 293 grams
-quantity of methamphetamine, 128 grams
-amount of synthetic plant matter, 468 grams
-amount of unknown liquid substance, 378 grams
-amount of unknown plant matter, 69 grams
-amount of unknown plant matter, 69 grams
.[/P]The driver of the vehicle was a 41-year-old man, who was arrested, while a 35-year-old woman, a resident of Nicosia, was also arrested on 23 February
The 41-year-old man and the 35-year-old woman continue to be detained to facilitate investigations.
