Police have charged 12 citizens and 4 managers of establishments for violating measures against COVID
Police have made complaints against 12 citizens and 4 managers of establishments for violation of anti-coronavirus measures. Most of the citizens were reported for not wearing a protective mask. The managers of the establishments were fined for failing to check safepasses.
A spokesman for the police press office told CPS that there were a total of 2,223 checks.
In Nicosia 1,062 checks were carried out and 8 citizens and 3 establishments were reported, in Larnaca in 464 checks 1 citizen was reported, in Limassol 135 checks were carried out and 1 establishment was reported and in Paphos in 63 checks no complaint was made. In Famagusta 243 checks were carried out and 3 citizens were complained about and in Morphou in 151 checks no complaint was made.
The Traffic Police carried out 105 checks and no complaint was made.
According to the police in Nicosia, a supermarket received a complaint and was asked to pay a fine of 8,000 euros[/b] for not checking a safepass, a shopping centre received a complaint with a fine of 16,000 euros[/b] because a customer was inside the premises without a safepass and in another shop a fine of 8,000 euros was imposed because an employee did not carry a safepass.
In Limassol a fruit shop was fined 1,500 euros
for not checking for a safepass.
