1.2 million new cases of COVID-19 worldwide 3,491 deaths in the last 24 hours

A total of 1.2 million new cases of coronavirus and 3,491 deaths were recorded worldwide in the last 24 hours, according to the Worldometers website.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the total number of cases has reached 493.7 million and deaths 6.2 million.

Of the 58.2 million active cases, 99.9% have mild symptoms while 0.01% are severe or critical. Of the 435.8 million considered closed cases, 99% have recovered and 0.1% have died.

The most cases totaling 265,995 were recorded in the last 24 hours in South Korea, followed by France with 203,021 cases, Germany with 187,256, Italy with 88,173 and Australia with 58,178.

Most deaths from the disease were recorded yesterday in the US, with a total of 466, followed by the UK with 368 deaths, Russia with 316, Germany with 256 and South Korea with 209 deaths.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the most cases have been recorded in the US (81.9 million), India (43 million) and Brazil (30 million). The US also leads the death toll with more than 1 million deaths, followed by India with 521,518 and Brazil with 660,586.
