Police in Paphos on Wednesday are searching for an individual suspected of breaking-in and damaging the citys social welfare offices.

According to Paphos CID head Michalis Nikolaou the suspect is a 28-year-old permanent resident against whom an arrest warrant is pending.

The case was filed with police on Tuesday morning by a staff member, who reported that the main entrance of the building had been violated.

Police established that during the night, a perpetrator had breached the premises and caused around €1,400 worth of damages. At first glance it did not appear that anything had been stolen, police said.

The scene was cordoned off and police have gathered evidence from it to further the investigation.
