The President of Slovenia Borut Pahor is on an official visit to Cyprus on Tuesday for talks President Nicos Anastasiades on bilateral relations and ways to further deepen cooperation between the two countries, as well as the Cyprus issue.
There will also be an exchange of views on the role that small EU member states can play for the future of Europe.
Pahor arrived at the Presidential Palace where he was welcomed by Anastasiades and laid a wreath at the statue of the first President of the Republic of Cyprus, Archbishop Makarios III.
The Presidents of Cyprus and Slovenia will have a tête-à-tête meeting and will later make statements to the press.
As announced by the Director of the President’s Press Office, Andreas Iosif, President Anastasiades will brief his Slovenian counterpart on Turkey’s provocative actions in the region, his efforts to resume the negotiation process, the Confidence Building Measures he has proposed and the efforts of the Republic of Cyprus to defend international law and its initiatives to this end.
The President of Slovenia will also meet with President of the House of Representatives, Annita Demetriou. He is also scheduled to visit Limassol, where he will meet with the city Mayor and the Rector of the Cyprus University of Technology and will participate in a discussion with students on the future of Europe.
President Anastasiades will host an official banquet for his Slovenian counterpart on Tuesday evening, at the Presidential Palace.
