The House on Thursday passed three bills comprising the reform of local government, consolidating the existing municipalities into 20.
Under amendments to the legislation that passed, parliament decided that no referendums will be held on the question of mergers of local authorities.
Under the new system, Nicosia will have five municipalities, Limassol four, Larnaca five, Paphos four, and Famagusta two.
