The Cyprus Post on Friday warned the public about increased reports of deceptive electronic messages, specifically phishing attempts regarding recipient and address details, along with requests for small payments.

Phishing involves online users being deceived by an entity, organisation, or individual posing as a trustworthy source, urging the message recipient to follow the provided instructions.

The instructions might prompt the recipient to follow an electronic link or divulge sensitive private information such as identification, passport details, banking information, or card details.

The Cyprus Post advised people to exercise caution regardless of the apparent credibility of the sender or messages received to avoid falling victim to manipulative schemes.

Furthermore, it highlighted that the scams are not directed to the JCCSmart online payment platform or the Cyprus Posts website at www.cypruspost.post but to a different electronic address.
