The Cyprus Airways flight from Larnaca to Yerevan, which yesterday turned back to Cyprus by the Iranian Air Defense, successfully landed in Armenia today, January 28.

The Cyprus Airways airliner departed Cyprus with an hour delay as it took longer than planned to alert and wait for passengers.

Due to the fact that Cyprus Airways does not use Turkish airspace during its flights, the airline flies around the area through other countries. Flights from Larnaca to Yerevan usually passed through the airspace of Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Iran.

According to Flightradar24, today the Cypriot plane entered Iranian airspace not through Iraq as usual, but through Kuwait. Because of this the flight lasted about 40-50 minutes longer. It is not known yet what is the reason for this change of route. Cyprus Airways is currently taking steps to return the previous route.
