Police arrested a 25-year-old man on Thursday late afternoon, when the young man was found in an area of Nicosia with bags of heroin in his possession, according to a police statement.
According to the statement, after assessing information about suspicious movements in an area of Nicosia, members of the police went to the area in question at around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday for a check. The 25-year-old man was found there, in whose possession, following a search and seizure, eight nylon packets containing heroin were found.
The police proceeded to arrest the young man for an automatic offence and placed him in custody to facilitate interrogations in connection with an ongoing case of illegal drug possession.
The case is being investigated by the YKAN (Nicosia District Police Station).
