Today's release of US consumer prices will likely show another big rise in US inflation in the first month of the year, the White House warned.

Consumer prices rose 7% for all of 2021, showing the fastest pace in four decades, and the US Department of Labor's Consumer Price Index (CPI) data expected to be released today is expected to show a large increase compared to January 2021.

"We expect a high annual inflation rate," White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters.
