[CNA] UNSC expects UNSG Good Offices and UNFICYP reports by 3 January

By 3 January 2022, the Security Council expects reports on the Good Offices Mission and the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) from UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, in accordance with resolution 2587 (2021) of 29 July 2021 on the renewal of the UNFICYP mission in Cyprus.

This report of the resolution is included in a preliminary work programme of the Security Council for January 2022.

Specifically, paragraph 19 of the resolution states that the UNSC "requests the SG to submit, by 3 January 2022, a report on his Good Offices, in particular on progress towards reaching consensus on the point of opening meaningful negotiations geared towards results leading to a settlement, encourages the leaders of the two communities to provide written briefings to the
