The United Nations Security Council will discuss the current state of play on the Cyprus problem in the context of the deliberations to be held this afternoon (New York time) before the body on the renewal of the mandate of the United Nations peacekeeping force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) for another six months. The adoption of the resolution to renew UNFICYP's mandate is scheduled for 27 January morning. [SPECIFICALLY, THE SECURITY COUNCIL WILL TODAY DISCUSS THE REPORTS OF UN SECRETARY GENERAL ANTONIO GUTERRES ON HIS GOOD OFFICES MISSION AND UNFICYP THAT WERE TABLED BEFORE IT IN EARLY JANUARY.
