Inflation in Britain reached its highest level since March 1992 in December, according to the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics.

The Consumer Prices Index came in at 5.4%, up from 5.1% in November.

This is a larger increase than most analysts had expected and further intensifies concerns about the large increase in the cost of living in the UK.
