In view of the fact that the case of importing counterfeit banknotes is expected to be registered against them tomorrow, the 27-year-old man and his 24-year-old partner, who were arrested yesterday in Limassol, were placed under 24-hour detention.
The counterfeit notes were detected yesterday by an officer of the Customs Department after checking a package sent from a foreign country to the Limassol Post Office when the 24-year-old woman presented herself to receive it.
Specifically, the customs officer found within the postal parcel a bundle of 100 10 euro banknotes and members of the Limassol CID, who were called to the scene, found that they were counterfeit, since they bore the same serial number.
