The trade deficit increased by 9.75% in the first eleven months of 2021, according to preliminary data released by the Statistical Office on Monday.
According to the Statistics Office's preliminary data for November, "the trade balance deficit was €4,799.0 million for the period January-November 2021, compared with €4,372.6 million in the corresponding period of 2020."
In particular, total imports of goods were €896.4 million compared to €692.9 million in November 2020, registering an increase of 29.4%. Imports from other EU Member States in November 2021 were €516.4 million and from third countries €380.0 million, compared with €395.5 million and €297.4 million respectively in November 2020.
