Despite the resurgence of Covid-19 infections caused by the Omicron variant, the US economy added far more jobs than expected in January 2022, reaching 467,000, the US government announced on Friday.
The US Department of Labor report, which also showed that the unemployment rate rose slightly to 4%, was a positive surprise for the world's largest economy, as many analysts had expected there would be either little or negative hiring in the first month of 2022.
