[CNA] The Petridio Foundation honoured the actor and director Kostas Demetriou

The Petridio Foundation honoured the actor and director Kostas Demetriou, in the framework of a literary memorial of Christodoulos and Maria Petridis.

In an announcement by the Foundation, it is stated that Kostas Demetriou grew up in Paphos, where he stayed until he was 18 years old.


"We spent almost everything in Paphos, both the good and the bad," Mr Demetriou said. Let's not forget, he adds, "that from 1955 with the struggle until 1960 when we finished, when Cyprus became independent, we were taught in the struggle."

"I belonged to the ANE then, Alkimos Youth of EOKA , we were going around, collecting leaflets. I was arrested writing slogans in the street, by an English soldier. I was taken to the detention centre and even put in the same cell with a Turkish murderer, on purpose and everything," he recalls.


He goes on to note that "I was convicted and I was a minor
