A new era for the improvement of the medical, social and other services provided to Cypriot thalassaemia patients is marked by the approval of the "National Strategy for Thalassaemia and other Haemoglobinopathies" by the Council of Ministers, which the Thalassaemia International Federation (TIF) welcomes with great warmth and satisfaction.
A TIF statement says that "the development of the National Thalassaemia Strategy is the result of the synergy of scientists, physicians, academics, representatives of the state and of course the patients themselves, is the result of the joint effort of all the aforementioned partners to develop a long-term, holistic strategy for the control and treatment of the condition on a systematic, thorough and uniform basis throughout the country".
