Despite an over-effort, the Men's National Handball Team was defeated by Turkey 35-28 (17-14 at half-time) at the "Haldun Alagaş" arena in Istanbul, in the first match for the pre-qualification phase of EURO 2024.
The rematch will take place on Saturday (22/1 - 20:00) at "T. Papadopoulos - Eleftheria".
According to a statement from the Cyprus Handball Federation, the national team has to achieve a minor miracle in order to reach the main qualifying round and at least the first victory in its history against the Turks, as Wednesday's defeat was the eighth in as many matches since 1995 at men's level.
