Gross Domestic Product (GDP) exceeded its pre-pandemic levels in 2021, reaching €22.43 billion (constant prices), showing strong growth of 5.5%, compared to 2020.
Specifically, according to preliminary data from the Statistical Office, GDP for 2021 is estimated at €23,352.8 million in current prices compared to €21,617.9 million in 2020 and €22,433.5 million in volume measurements (constant prices) for the year 2021, compared to €21,261.5 million in 2020.
The growth rate in real terms is estimated at 5.5% in 2021, compared to -5.0% in 2020.
In 2019, before the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, GDP stood at €22,376.8 million.
According to the data, GDP per capita increased by 7% in 2021, to €25.937, remaining, however, slightly below €26.
