There is a possibility that the health system in Cyprus will be further burdened by the high contagiousness of the new Omicron variant, Dr Maria Koliou, Assistant Professor of Paediatrics and Infectious Diseases at the University of Cyprus, told CNA, noting that according to the estimates of the Scientific Advisory Committee the 5th wave of the pandemic is expected to peak in the 2nd or 3rd week of January.
