Cyprus' literary life has become poorer after the death of the writer, poet and literary scholar Lefkios Zafeiriou.

According to his biography as quoted from the website of the Writers' Union, Lefkios Zafeiriou, who was awarded by the Academy of Athens, was born in November 1948 in Larnaca, where he finished primary and secondary school. He studied Greek literature at the National Kapodistrian University of Athens (Department of Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies), while at the same time taking courses in journalism.
