PDOED expresses its strong opposition and complete dissatisfaction with the decision taken by the Government to differentiate the reopening day of kindergartens and special schools (7/1) from that of primary and secondary schools (10/1), while noting that one of the critical issues is the staffing of schools given the absence of a large number of teachers due to the pandemic.
In a statement, the organization's president, Myria Vassiliou, said that "we have repeatedly and in a timely manner pointed out to all those responsible for the additional problems that such a decision would bring."
She added that "unfortunately, the adoption of this decision will further burden Special Schools and Kindergartens, which will operate without virtually any other measure to protect children and teachers, BR\]
