Interior Minister Nikos Nouris is travelling today to Vilnius, Lithuania, to participate on 20-21 January in a European Conference on the management of external borders.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Interior, the Conference will deal exclusively with the issue of security at European borders, in the light of the increasing migration flows, as well as recent developments and challenges regarding the instrumentalisation of irregular migration for political reasons by third countries.
The Conference is expected, inter alia, to discuss ways to address the migration challenges faced by Member States at land and maritime borders, as well as to explore possibilities for improving the return of third country nationals to their countries of origin.
