Government employment rose 2.3% year-on-year in February, boosted by an 11% increase in temporary staff employment.
Specifically, according to data from the Bureau of Statistics, government employment in February 2022 increased by 1,221 people, compared to the same month in 2021, to 53,702 people.
In permanent staff there was a decrease of 645 people or 2.4%, from 26,775 to 26,130, while in temporary staff there was an increase of 1,876 people or 10.8%, reaching 19,279 compared to 17.
Compared to February 2021, there is an increase in all categories of personnel, the Civil Service (0.1%), the Educational Service (7.2%) and the Security Forces (1.5%).
