New measures against the spread of the pandemic are expected to be discussed today at a meeting between Health Minister Michael Hadjipandela and the Scientific Advisory Committee ahead of Christmas and New Year.
The significant increase in the number of hospitalisations with coronavirus, the continuing upward trend in the number of daily cases and the 'Omicron' mutation are of concern to scientists who are expected to put new recommendations for additional measures on the table.
One measure expected to be discussed ahead of the holidays is restrictions on family gatherings and the testing of everyone, regardless of vaccination history, to enter certain places and participate in certain activities.
